Yustaga Lodge 385-Native American Events Patch Those members who are actively involved in the Lodge Dance Team, Ceremonies Team, Drum and Song Team, and/or Individual Dancing may qualify for a special Native American Events Patch. Requirements must be signed off and dated by the respective committee chairman, advisor, or other designated person. Requirements can not be used cumulatively for more than one category. For example, regalia construction of the same article can only be counted for dance or ceremony, not both. |
Ceremony Team Principle Parts 1. Participate in at least 2 ceremonies: Vigil, Brotherhood, Pre-Ordeal, Ordeal, or Calling Out. 2. Participate in at least 4 practice sessions other than at regular lodge events. 3. Compete at Conclave and/or NOAC.(excluding Vigil) Non-Speaking Parts(Guides, Fire Tenders, etc.) 1. Participate in at least 3 ceremonies: Vigil, Brotherhood, Pre-Ordeal, Ordeal, or Calling Out. 2. Participate in at least 3 practice sessions other than at regular lodge events. 3. Observe Conclave and/or NOAC ceremony competition. 4. Serve as a back-up by learning the principle role for one ceremony. Adult 1. Assist the team with coaching, training, and evaluation during at least 4 practice sessions outside of regular lodge events. 2. Attend and provide assistance before and after at a minimum of 3 ceremonies(Vigil, Brotherhood, Ordeal, Pre-Ordeal, or Calling Out) performed at lodge functions. 3. Judge or assist the ceremony team with competition at Conclave and/or NOAC. 4. Assist with construction and/or maintenance of ceremonial regalia on at least 3 occasions. Dance Team: Youth 1. Attend at least 4 practice sessions other than at regular lodge events. 2. Compete at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Perform on at least two other occasions, one of which must be at a lodge function. 4. Assist with construction and/or maintenance of dance regalia, or conduct historical research for one new dance. Adult 1. Assist the team with coaching, training, and evaluation during at least 4 practice sessions outside of regular lodge events. 2. Judge or assist the team with competition at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Assist with construction and/or maintenance of dance regalia, or conduct historical research for one new dance. 4. Attend and assist the team at two other performances, one of which must be at a regular lodge event. Individual Dance: Youth 1. Maintain a regular practice schedule. 2. Compete at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Perform on at least two other occasions, one of which must be at a lodge function. 4. Construct and/or maintain own dance regalia. Adult 1. Assist a youth with coaching, training, and evaluation during at least 3 practice sessions outside of regular lodge events. 2. Judge or assist a youth with competition at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Construct and/or maintain own dance regalia. 4. Perform (non-competition) on at least two other occasions, one of which must be at a lodge function. Drum & Song: Youth 1. Attend at least 4 practice sessions other than at lodge events. 2. Compete at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Perform on at least two other occasions, one of which must be at a lodge function. 4. Construct own drumstick. 5. Know at least 4 appropriate songs suitable for competition. 6. Learn one new song (each year) and serve as its leader during a performance. Adult 1. Assist the team with coaching, training, and evaluation during at least 4 practice sessions outside of regular lodge events. 2. Judge or assist the team with competition at Conclave and/or NOAC. 3. Perform (non-competition) on at least two other occasions, one of which must be at a lodge function. 4. Learn one new song (each year). 5. Know at least 4 appropriate songs suitable for competition. |
